II Chronicles 34:3-4 "For in the eighth year of his reign, while he was still young, he began to seek the God of his father David; and in the twelfth year he began to purge Judah and Jerusalem of the high places, the wooden images, the carved images, and the molded images. 4 They broke down the altars of the Baals in his presence, and the incense altars which were above them he cut down; and the wooden images, the carved images, and the molded images he broke in pieces, and made dust of them and scattered it on the graves of those who had sacrificed to them."

Something to Think About: Josiah, at the age of sixteen and at the age of twenty began one of the biggest cleansing of wooden images and false idols in the history of the nation of Israel. The reason they destroyed the carved and molded images and ground them into ashes is because many of them were pornographic images of sexual acts. As the Apostle Paul taught the Corinthian church;" For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh.4  For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ." 2 Corinthians10:3-5  We have the power of the blood of Jesus to purify, protect and to cleanse our conscience at a deep level inside of our minds, where the battle begins.  "How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God!" Hebrews 9:14 The battle against sin in won by the blood of Jesus Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit to help us overcome as we yield to God's power to help us. This is how we overcome sin in our lives by relying on the blood of Jesus, God's power through His Word, as activated through His Spirit by our faith !
