Meditate on God's Word !
"Forgetting God ! "
Judges 8:33-35 “So it was, as soon as Gideon was dead, that the children of Israel again played the harlot with the Baals, and made Baal-Berith their god. 34 Thus the children of Israel did not remember the LORD their God, who had delivered them from the hands of all their enemies on every side; 35 nor did they show kindness to the house of Jerubbaal (Gideon) in accordance with the good he had done for Israel. ”
Something to Think About: Soon after Gideon's death the nation fell back into their old patterns of Baal worship. The challenge for the nation of Israel and even us today is to remember how much God has done in our lives and our need to constantly renew our faith. King David, who lived at times a troubled life would remember what God had done for him; "I will remember the works of the LORD; Surely I will remember Your wonders of old. 12 I will also meditate on all Your work, And talk of Your deeds. 13 Your way, O God, is in the sanctuary. Who is so great a God as our God? 14 You are the God who does wonders; You have declared Your strength among the peoples." Psalm 77:11-14 Paul knew the danger of sin in our lives as he warned the church at Ephesus; "And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. 31 Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. 32 And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you. " Ephesians 4:30-32 Anger and willful sin activate the flesh and forgivenss activates the Holy Spirit. Paul knew and taught the Hebrew church the importance of remembering our source of power. "Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.3 For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls." Hebrews 13:2-3 Ask God to activate the power of the Holy Spirit in your life today and let Jesus give you the strength to do it!
